Theatre troupe RDT GOODGE STREET organized a literary evening celebrating the funny, witty and instructive works of Zinaida Kirk.

Zinaida Kirk was born in Odessa; she started writing in the fourth grade. Her work was published in the Pionerskaya Pravda newspaper and in various local publishing houses. In 1965, the nephew of Alexander Tvardovsky shared Zinaida's early works with his uncle, who liked the stories and wrote at the end of her notebook: "The province has always been the main supplier of talents in Russia. It is imperative to study and write, write, write!"

And Zinaida continued to write. In 2008, AST published her novel The Scarab, which is based on the life of her maternal ancestors, who were born, lived and worked in England. In 2010, Zinaida Kirk's story Good Evening, Anton Savelyevich was published in the School: Staying Alive collection. In 2014, Zinaida Kirk's collection Odessa Stories was released. She also performed in several plays of the RDT GOODGE STREET troupe.

Zinaida Kirk passed away on 31 January 2018. To celebrate her memory, members of the RDT GOODGE STREET troupe read her stories and shared their memories. The evening was also attended by the Odessa Club and the Theatre of Russian Classics.
