A week of Russian ethnic cinema will be held in the UK

The representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in London hosted an online press conference with participation of the organizers of the Russian-British Sochi International Film Festival and the Awards (SIFFA) and the IRIDA Music Festival.

The following speakers took part in the press conference:

  • Lyubov Balagova-Kandur – founder and president of SIFFA and IRIDA Music Festival
  • Kirill Razlogov – art director of SIFFA, professor at VGIK, film critic and TV presenter
  • Nina Kochelyaeva – SIFFA’s program director
  • Valery Vorona – art director of the IRIDA Music Festival, Honoured Art Worker, famous violinist and music teacher
  • Charles Stewart - Vice President of SIFFA

Lyubov Balagova-Kandur summarized the results of the VIII Russian-British Sochi International Film Festival, which was held in Sochi in the early November and announced plans to organize SIFFA UK in 2021. Art director of the film festival Kirill Razlogov stressed that "It is important that the film festival will be held in the UK in a hybrid format and that the representatives of the British film industry will receive their awards. This is significant because the history of the film festival continues." Valery Vorona spoke about the outstanding prospects of the IRIDA Music Festival held in the framework of SIFFA UK.

Journalists were informed about the plans of the British part of the SIFFA UK festival. The program director of the festival Nina Kochelyaeva announced a new online programme, Russian Ethnic Cinema Week, which will take place from 21 to 27 December 2020 as part of the events held under the auspices of the SIFFA Russian-British Film Festival and IRIDA Film Awards.
