The international online forum-festival dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II and the joint peacekeeping efforts of citizens and local administrations, brought together representatives of Russian and British twin cities.

The meeting was opened with a speech by Lord Mayor of the British city of Coventry Ann Lucas, who suggested that the Russian-British forum enables our countries and cities to become closer. Ann Lucas noted that relations between the twin cities of Coventry and Volgograd have been successfully developing through culture, sports and education for many decades, having started with the aid of Coventry citizens to the residents of Stalingrad fighting against the Nazi invaders.

The head of Volgograd Vitaly Likhachev delivered a festive address to the forum participants. The representative of Rossotrudnichestvo in the UK Anton Chesnokov said in his speech that Rossotrudnichestvo considers support of the twinning movement as one of its priority areas. The Lord Mayor of Manchester and the Lord Mayor of Glasgow also greeted the participants and thanked to all those who contribute to the development and strengthening of Russian-British relations.

The event was attended by representatives of Russian and British cities, heads of city administrations, and Russian diplomats.
