Volgograd is hosting the VII International Forum of Public Diplomacy "Dialogue on the Volga: Peace and Mutual Understanding in the 21st Century". This year, the forum is timed to coincide with the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, as well as the World Cities Day, which takes place annually on 31 October.

The forum is organized by Rossotrudnichestvo, the Volgograd city administration, and the administration of the Volgograd region. It is held online for the first time. Thousands of participants from 20 countries come together to discuss issues of preserving the historical truth about the war, measures to combat the falsification of history and preservation of cultural heritage in the framework of the forum.

In his opening remarks, the head of Rossotrudnichestvo Yevgeny Primakov pointed out Stalingrad’s special role in the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, as well as the symbolic connection between Coventry and Volgograd, which laid the foundation for the global twinning movement. Lord Mayor of the British city of Coventry, Ann Lucas, noted that "31 October is a day dedicated to world unity, when cities from all over the world get to know and support each other better."

This year, the forum has also become a platform where representatives of government, scientific and social circles, as well as business communities meet to discuss modern challenges and threats and continue to work together to ensure world security for future generations.
