Evgeny Primakov Appointed as Head of Rossotrudnichestvo

Member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Evgeny Primakov was appointed as the head of Rossotrudnichestvo in accordance with a decree of the President of the Russian Federation.

Since December 2017, Rossotrudnichestvo was headed by Eleanora Mitrofanova; she joined the Foreign Ministry as ambassador at large on 11 June 2020.

Grandson of Soviet and Russian politician and statesman Evgeny Primakov (1929-2015), Primakov was born in 1976. He started his career working as a journalist in various media outlets, including the ITAR-TASS agency, and from 2002 held various roles in television. In 2010 Primakov became one of the founders of the autonomous non-profit organization Russian Humanitarian Mission, which sought to help those affected by wars and disasters. From 2011 to 2014 he worked in the Office of the UN High Commissioner for refugees.

In 2017 Primakov became a member of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, headed the commission for the development of information community, media and mass communications and the coordinating council of regional mass media. In September 2018 he was elected as a State Duma deputy from the United Russia party. Primakov is a member of the Duma committee on international affairs.
