On the Day of Memory and Sorrow, the Soviet War Memorial Trust, Volunteers of the Victory (UK) and the representative office Rossotrudnichestvo in the UK held the Candle of Remembrance campaign in London. The event was held on the anniversary of the beginning of the Second World War and was supported by the Russian Embassy in the UK.

Russian Ambassador Andrei Kelin, representative of Rossotrudnichestvo Anton Chesnokov, Honorary Secretary of the Soviet War Memorial Trust Ralph Gibson, and coordinator of Volunteers of the Victory (UK) movement Lyudmila Gavrilova took part in a solemn flower-laying ceremony at the Soviet War Memorial.

Volunteers tidied the memorial and the adjacent territory. Candles were lit in memory of those who died on the battlefields, in concentration camps, in captivity, in the occupied territories.
