The fifth forum for Russian teachers took place in Leeds

The fifth forum for Russian teachers, which aimed to highlight current issues and tasks in teaching Russian to bilingual children in a non-Russian language environment, was held Leeds. The forum was attended by delegates from Manchester, Leeds, Bradford, Nottingham, Mansfield, London, Altrincham, Carlisle, and Belfast.

The representative of Rossotrudnichestvo in Great Britain and Northern Ireland Anton Chesnokov greeted the participants of the forum with words of gratitude and recognition of the importance of the work they carried out.

The forum included an exhibition of educational literature, which showcased various educational materials, including textbook-workbook "Multicolored Alphabet", developed with participation of professionals from Znaniye education centre. The exhibition also presented training tests in the Russian language, which are used in preparation for the British GCSE examinations. The exhibition became a unique opportunity for participants of the forum to exchange teaching methods, share experiences and discuss the educational process, and for textbook authors to meet with practitioners from Russian schools.

The presentations, which took place in the course of the forum, facilitated discussions the theoretical aspects of the teachers’ work and fostered participation in master classes and open lessons. A practical drawing lesson showed educators how, using a variety of stylistic means, bilingual children develop vocabulary, observancy and creativity.

The forum was organized by Baltika education centre with support of the Chamber of Russian-speaking Communities, the Russian Embassy and the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo.
