The representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in London hosted a meeting with Nikolas Pasternak Slater, a translator of Russian classical literature, grandson of the artist Leonid Pasternak and nephew of an outstanding writer, Nobel Prize laureate Boris Pasternak.

In the course of the event Nikolas Pasternak Slater talked about the difficult life of the Pasternak family, their long “journey” from Soviet Russia to the UK, their painful separation from other family members, their ongoing correspondence, and how the printed manuscript of Doctor Zhivago novel reached Oxford, where the Pasternak family eventually settled down.

Nicolas Pasternak Slater talked about the painstaking work on translating Doctor Zhivago into English, read excerpts from his translation of the novel, and showed unique illustrations made by Leonid Pasternak that accompany the publication.
