The mayor of English Coventry will travel to Volgograd in late October to attend the celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the twinning movement between the two cities, said British Deputy Ambassador to Russia Lindsay Skoll in an interview with TASS.

“The 75th anniversary of the twinning relationship between Coventry and Volgograd is an important milestone in our common history. The mayor of Coventry will come to Volgograd in late October,” Ms. Skoll said. She noted that during the Second World War, the inhabitants of Stalingrad (as Volgograd was called from 1925 to 1961) and Coventry showed courage and steadfastness, and this should not be forgotten.

The delegation’s arrival in Volgograd led by the British Deputy Ambassador to the Russian Federation is timed to coincide with the 75th anniversary of the Volgograd-Coventry twin-city movement. According to the Volgograd authorities, a return trip of Volgograd residents to the UK is planned for late October. The delegation will include members of the Volzhanochka children's exemplary dance ensemble and their mentors.
