On the eve of the 80th anniversary of the start of the largest war in the history of mankind, the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in London hosted the opening of a historical exhibition "1939. The Beginning of World War II. The exposition presented archival documents, photographs and a newsreel telling about the events that led to the global conflict.
A representative of the Russian Embassy elaborated on the background of the issue by talking about the Non-aggression Treaty between Germany and the Soviet Union, also known as the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, and the secret supplementary protocol on delimitation of areas of interest in Eastern Europe. The meeting also discussed the failure to create an anti-Hitler coalition, and the Tripartite Soviet-French-British talks in Moscow on the conclusion of an agreement of mutual assistance.
