Russian language teacher from the University of Warwick took part in an educational programme in St. Petersburg

Two-week courses for teachers of Russian language and literature, organized by the Committee on External Relations of St. Petersburg, Rossotrudnichestvo and the Russkiy Mir Foundation, were held at the Herzen State Pedagogical University in St. Petersburg. The love of Russian language and passion for teacher’s profession brought together Russian language professionals from around the world.

Maria Belova, Russian language teacher from the University of Warwick, took part in the programme. For three years, Maria has been teaching Russian language to students and adults. Participants of the continuing education programme remarked that it was interesting to learn about their colleagues’ work, discuss pressing issues, modern techniques, relevant materials, interactive approaches to training, and to find solutions to common problems.

An international scientific and practical conference "Problems of teaching Russian language abroad" was held in the framework of the course. At the conference, participants made presentations about exciting and relevant problems in teaching Russian language abroad and shared their experience in different countries. Maria Belova made a presentation entitled “YouTube channel as an Additional Material for Russian Language Lessons Abroad (using Kalinka Cat YouTube Channel as an Example)”.

The course was accompanied by a rich cultural programme – course participants went on a trip to the Gatchina Palace, toured the Russian Museum, and visited Pushkin House - Literary Museum.
