The programme of the festival includes round tables, panel discussions, workshops, excursions, translation tournaments, parodies, impromptu and poetry readings. The key event will traditionally be the Tournament of Russian Poets Residing Abroad, which will be held in London’s historic district of Covent Garden on June 8.
The main objectives of the festival throughout its existence remain to be the search for Russian talents abroad, support for the Russian diaspora, representation of Russian culture in Europe and popularization of Alexander Pushkin’s literary work.
This year, the 10 best poets from Canada, Israel, Spain and the UK arrived in London to participate in the literary contest. The theme of the Tournament is the creative interpretation of the Pushkin’s line "With the hero of the wondrous Albion ..." from the impromptu poem "To Oranian Prince".
As part of the opening, a creative evening “Poet to the Poet” was held, where Russian-speaking poets and readers performed pieces by Alexander Pushkin and their own compositions.
The festival is supported by Rossotrudnichestvo.
