"The Heart of Russia" train launched in London

Thematic train "The Heart of Russia" dedicated to the UK-Russia Year of Education and Science was launched in the London underground. The train left from one of central stations of the London Underground – the "Baker Street" station.

The colour palette of the train design reflects the main colours of the flags of Russia and the UK – white, blue and red. The design of each of the seven cars is dedicated to different themes: ballet, fine arts, literature, cinema, architecture, space and science. The walls of the carriages are decorated with footage from the legendary Russian films, thematic posters depicting famous buildings, portraits of famous Russians.

In addition, 25 underground stations will be equipped with QR codes, which will allow everyone to learn about the rich cultural and scientific heritage of Russia. This will provide a unique opportunity for guests and residents of the British capital to get to know Russia better. Within three months, the train will run on three branches of the London Underground: Circle line, Hammersmith and City line, District line.

Representatives of Moscow and London undergrounds, deputy head of the Department for Transport and Development of Road Infrastructure of Moscow Gamid Bulatov, Russian Ambassador Alexander Yakovenko, British Council Director Sir Ciaran Devane, representative of Rossotrudnichestvo in the UK Anton Chesnokov took part in the ceremony.

Until the end of the year, the Moscow Metro, in turn, plans to launch a thematic train dedicated to British science and education.
