From November 16 to November 20, Sochi hosted the IV Sochi International Film Festival & Awards (SIFFA).
This year, 50 films were presented at the festival. In addition to selective screenings, special open film screenings for guests and residents of the city, master classes by foreign and Russian filmmakers, as well as creative evenings attended by movie stars were held in Sochi. The festival presented several debut works, Russian premieres, as well as films by distinguished directors.

The winner of the IV Sochi International Film Festival was the Kazakh film “Shirakshi. The Keeper of the Light” directed by Ermek Tursunov. The golden figurine “Irida” was awarded to the picture’s actor Muratzhan Mukhazhanov. Picture “Shirakshi”, shot by Kazakhfilm film studio and commissioned by the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, tells the story of a soldier returning home from a war.
The festival also included a creative meeting with actress, People's Artist of the RSFSR Larisa Luzhina, a master class by Hollywood director, screenwriter and producer Moha Kandur, lectures by renowned acting teacher Peter Feris and screenwriter Richard Dicken, as well as a master class by director Vladimir Alenikov, whose film “Wanderers of Patience” is nominated for a prestigious “Golden Globe” award in the US.
