The UK team is ready for the V World Games of Young Compatriots

Since 2015, Rossotrudnichestvo has been a co-organizer of the World Games of Young Compatriots together with Russia’s Ministry of Sport, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, and the All-Russian Federation of School Sports.

This year the Games will be held from May 31 to June 6, 2019 in Khanty-Mansiysk. 650 young athletes from 60 countries are expected to attend the event. The UK team will be made up of students from Walsall, Dorset, Nottingham and Edinburgh.

On the eve of the team’s departure to Russia, team leader Mikhail Frolov and one of the participants Ignat Valnuhin (table tennis) visited the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in London and got acquainted with its activities. The representative of Rossotrudnichestvo in the UK Anton Chesnokov presented gifts to all team members and wished them victory.

The Games will include competitions in seven popular sports: 3x3 basketball, futsal, volleyball, chess, table tennis, gymnastics and swimming. Sambo Day will become a special feature of the sports programme. The day will include demonstrations and master classes from renowned athletes and film lectures on the history of the sport.
