Several thousand people took part in the "Immortal Regiment" campaign in London,
which was held in the British capital for the fourth time. Despite the rainy weather,
representatives of the countries of the former USSR, citizens of the United Kingdom
and other countries gathered in London on Victory Day to honor the memory of
ancestors who fought against fascism.
Participants of the procession marched from Trafalgar Square to Westminster Palace
on Whitehall Street with portraits of their relatives, front-line soldiers, singing famous
Soviet military songs.
“This campaign is a great initiative! I have been participating in the Immortal
Regiment in London for the last two years, before that I took part in processions in
Bulgaria and Romania. I am glad that people remember, that they honor the dead and
us, who went through all the hardships” - said the TASS correspondent and veteran of
the Great Patriotic War, 94-year-old Anatoly Zhivov, who first appeared on the front
in December 1943 and participated in liberation of Ukraine, Moldova and Romania.
