The third presentation of the Sochi International Film Festival and IRIDA Film Awards (SIFFA - Sochi International Film Festival & Awards) took place in London.
In the framework of the SIFFA UK programme, a round table “Contemporary Cinema: Local Paths to Global Success” with participation of Russian and foreign filmmakers was held at the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in the UK. The discussion was attended by Lyubov Balagova-Kandur (Russia-United Kingdom), Mohi Kandur (Russia-United Kingdom), Vladimir Bitokov (Russia), Michael Redwood (United Kingdom), Eshim Guzelpinar (United Kingdom), Serkan Nihat (Cyprus).
Screening of short films also took place during the event. Lyubov Balagova gave a lecture entitled “Scale and realism of Soviet films about the war using the example of “ Leningrad in the Fight ”: the film of the besieged city”.
The gala evening of the Sochi International Film Festival was held in the hall of the Pinsent Masons law firm. The awards ceremony was attended by the royal biographer Lady Colin Campbell, who presented the SIFFA awards; Kirill Razlogov, president of the Guild of Film Critics of Russia; Russian sculptor Irina Lagoshina; and members of the British film world (BAFTA, BFI). The British premiere of the drama Deep Rivers by Russian director Vladimir Bitokov took place. A special diploma from the SIFFA jury was awarded to the Canadian film Sharkwater Extinction, which was filmed underwater.
