Training manual “Learn Russian in English School”, which was published as part of the Journey Around the Schools of the World series, was presented at the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in London.

Author of the book Elena Geddis is the founder and director of the First Russian School in Belfast. She created the manual “Learn Russian in English School” on the basis of many years of successful testing of the textbook “Learn Russian in Swedish School” in several schools in Sweden. The manual introduces the culture of communication, some of the features and peculiarities of the English and Russian schools. It popularizes interest in the Russian school and Russian language.

The manual is composed of texts in Russian and English in the form of dialogues between Russian students who came to the UK and their English classmates. Dialogues-stories are written in a simple spoken language in which children usually communicate. This approach to the content of educational material gives children the opportunity to work with texts and tasks with great interest. The text of the manual is accompanied by tasks and exercises aimed at the development of thinking and speech.

Also, the meeting featured a presentation of the lotto game “SLO-GO-GRAD”, which aims at the development of oral speech activity - skills of reading and speaking in Russian among students, beginning with preschool age.
The pilot edition of the textbook “Learn Russian in English School” (E.V. Geddis, edited by the doctor of pedagogical sciences, professor A.L. Berdichevsky) is distributed free of charge among language schools of additional education. The book was published with support of the Russkiy Mir Foundation, Moscow.
