June 22, 1941 is one of the saddest dates of the Russian history. It is the day of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. On the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in London and “RusFond UK” charitable foundation invited everyone to honor the memory of those who died on the battlefields, in hospitals, concentration camps, from hunger and disease during the most brutal and bloody war.
Guests of the event honoured the memory of the fallen with a minute of silence. One of the guests told about his memories of the beginning of the war, which caught him as a four-year-old child.
The evening was not just memorable, but also charitable. Funds collected during the event will be used towards the treatment of nine-year-old Polya Prokhorova. "Our grandfathers shed their blood so that the children rejoice in life. "RusFond UK" works so that children live and smile, "- says the project manager of the Foundation Irina Varivoda.
The concert programme included songs of the war era, poetry about the war, dance and ballet performances.
Member of the RusFond UK Board of Trustees Svetlana Kravtsova presented certificates of appreciation to all young participants of the programme.
Poet Margarita Markova hosted the event. The event was supported by the restaurant of Georgian cuisine "Walnut & Spice" and "Vatrushka" café.
