Widespread celebrations of the Victory Day will be held in the UK

Numerous events are planned to be held in the UK in the framework of the Victory Day celebrations. Preparation for the memorable date began with the "St. George's Ribbon" campaign, organized by the Bureau of Russian-Speaking Volunteers in the famous Piccaddily street in the heart of London.

"Immortal Regiment" will be held in five cities of the United Kingdom. The biggest procession is expected in London, where the route lies along the main sights of the city - from Trafalgar Square past the Prime Minister's residence, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament and the Westminster Abbey. In 2016, more than 2000 people took part in the march in London.

A traditional motor rally with cars decorated with Russian symbols will be concluded with a festive concert. A festival dedicated to World War II will be held in Scotland, while the Arctic Convoys Museum will host an exhibition dedicated to the memory of the heroic Arctic convoys in Arkhangelsk and Murmansk. The Russian-British Music Academy "Music Nova" has prepared a lecture-concert  “Music of the besieged Leningrad". In Brighton, Russian school "Horizon" invites the public to a meeting with a resident of besieged Leningrad Anna Smirnova. Memorable lessons, meetings, and film screenings will be held in many Russian schools throughout the country.

On Victory Day, a traditional wreath laying ceremony will take place at the Soviet memorial at the Imperial War Museum in London. Wreaths will be laid on the graves of Soviet citizens killed in the war across the UK, namely in Leeds, Huddersfield, Harrogate, Manchester, Shaftesbury, Aldershot, Tidworth, Hartlepool, York, Liverpool, Chester. On the island of Jersey wreaths will be laid at Jersey's Slave Workers Memorial.

The representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in London will host an exhibition of posters "Edges of Victory" from the collection of the State Central Museum of Contemporary History of Russia as well as present an exhibition of children's drawings.

Celebration will end with a big concert with the invitation of veterans, prepared by talented compatriots.
