Programme of the evening will include famous Russian opera arias, romances and folk songs from repertoire of Sergei Lemeshev.
Sergei Yakovlevich Lemeshev (1902 – 1977) was one of the most well-known and beloved Russian operatic lyric tenors. His voice had an unusually soft and light timbre.
He sung in Bolshoi from 1931 until 1956. Lemeshev's operatic repertoire consisted primarily of Russian works along with a number of French and a few Italian and German pieces. Almost all works were performed in the Russian language.
He was also an outstanding concert singer and a brilliant performer of traditional Russian folk songs.
Igor Outkine is a Russian tenor and accordion player. He studied classical accordion at the Elektrostal college of music and took vocal lessons from Kyra Vayne and Nikolai Gedda.
His musical duo Mazaika with violinist and domra player Sarah Harrison is well known in London.
