Dear all,

My name is Olga Kenton, I am a writer, journalist and a PhD student in the Department of Film and Creative Writing of the University of Birmingham. I am currently looking for participants to take part in the interviews for my creative project that explores Russian immigration into the UK.

There is currently an on-going and often rather one-sided discourse about Eastern European immigration (including Russian immigration) into the UK. Many of the narratives presented about Russian immigration are both simplistic and negative. The interviews will be used to uncover and explore the unique personal experiences and challenges faced by Russian-speaking immigrants who have moved to and settled in the UK. This work will be presented as a mixed-form prose text that juxtaposes elements of memoir and creative nonfiction profiles (based on the authentic stories of Russian immigrants in the UK).

If you are interested in the project and/or want to know more details about the project, and/or want share your story, please contact me at the following email address: oxk897@student.bham.ac.uk

Participants have to be Russian-speaking immigrants living in the UK who are aged 18 or over. Participation in the project will be on voluntary basis and will not be compensated. The interviews will be conducted either via Skype video-call or as a face-to-face meeting.
