“Seasons of Russian Crafts in London” is a brand new cultural and educational programme for children aimed at familiarizing kids with Russian folklore and art. It presents aspects of Russian history through the prism of folk art.
The first season - "Russian clay toy" included an exhibition and a workshop.
The exhibition showcased the best toys of Filimonov, Dymkovo, Abashevo, Kargopol, Khludnevskoy, as well as the famous toys of the city of Tula.
Author of the project Sekacheva Oksana (PhD) told the guests about the history of toys, manufacturing traditions around it, peculiarities of local colour and form, as well as symbolism of the figures. As a result, visitors were able to touch the living Russian culture and history embodied in the works of the toy masters. Read more »
